The picture shows the arrival of the bellicose and marauding sailors of the Vikings in the Oder Valley. You can see the Vikings’ ships with red-and-white striped sails and a dragon’s head. The Vikings are armed with swords, not so the dwellers of the Oder valley. Instead of weapons they brought skins, coins, and other trading goods in stoneware jugs. For trading purposes fire-seizes were accepted.
