Archive for Art and History, Berlin. The picture shows a settlement of immigrants from the 19th century pioneer days of America. In the settlement you can see block hats – one of them with the sign public school -, lumberjacks and their covered wagons. Straight through the picture are depicted the tracks of the transcontinental railroad. The steam-train “Through line, New York – San Fransisco” arrives the settlement, welcomed by settlers and travelers. On the other side armed Indians on their horses are depicted.
