Die Revolution von 1830: eine Barrikade Paris, - The picture shows the July Revolution of 1830 in Paris. Craftsmen, workers and students are revolting against Charles X who dissolved the parliament. They built barricades, are throwing chairs and kettles from their windows and are firing at the royalist army.

Een Hagepreek buiten Utrecht, Augustus 1566 Utrecht, circa 1911 - Uit handleiding circa 1915: Het is niet een gestudeerd prediker maar een eenvoudige, ongeletterde handwerksman, die daar woorden van troost en opwekking spreekt tot de aanhangers van de nieuwe leer, wie het niet gegeven is, hun godsdienst in een rustig, veilig kerkgebouw te belijden. Een boeren huifkar dient de vurige spreker tot kansel. Zijn gehoor, bestaande uit edelen, kanonniken, burgers en boeren, mannen en vrouwen, staande of gezeten in het open veld, volgt met aandacht zijn uitleggingen van de bijbel. Gewapende jongelieden houden de wacht bij de prediker en buiten de kring van de hoorders, opdat de Hagepreek niet verstoord zal worden door de knechten van de Inquisitie. Het is dan ook een stout stuk zo binnen een geweerschotafstands van Utrechts vestingmuren een verboden predikatie te houden. Hun vrome geloofsmoed doet voorganger en hoorder alle lijfsgevaar trotseren: Zij weten hun leven in Gods hand. Als zij straks de slotzang hebben geëindigd, gevoelen allen zich gesterkt en in staat de last van de vervolging tot het einde te dragen.

De Romeinen in ons land Nederland, circa 1911 - Uit handleiding circa 1915: Het zich ontwikkelend legerdorp bij een Romeinse vesting, geeft enig denkbeeld van de invloed van de Romeinse cultuur op de primitieve beschavingstoestand van de Germanen. Het legerdorp is bevolkt door Romeinse handwerkslieden, marskramers, zoetelaars en oudgedienden, die, zich veilig voelende in de nabijheid van de vesting, hun brood trachten te verdienen door te voorzien in de behoeften der Romeinse legersoldaten. De Germanen, hoe vasthoudend ook aan hun gewoonten, maken gebruik van de kennis van de Romeinse burgers. Zij leren van hen het hout en het ijzer bewerken, klei tot stenen bakken, het graan tot meel malen in de molen, welputten graven, moesgroenten kweken, het land bebouwen en het vlas en de wol tot garen spinnen en doeken weven. Op de voorgrond het in aanbouw zijnde legerdorp; op de achtergrond rechts de buitenmuur van de vesting en links als tegenstelling een Germaans gehucht met rieten hutten.

On the left side you can see a women wearing pieces of artistically forged jewellery. In the background men are with cattle, working in agriculture. Dombau im Mittelalter Jerusalem, 1968 - The picture shows a rare, contemporary medieval depiction of construction works of a cathedral. According to the subtitle this woodblock printing originally served as illustration in a manuscript from the 15th century. The picture was painted by the famous French painter Jean Foucquet (1420-1481), whose style of painting includes late Gothic as well as early Renaissance elements. This painting should illustrate the construction of the temple of Jerusalem. On the picture you can see stonecutters working on the stone blocks and laborers carrying material. High above on the parts of the building which have already been finished you can see a big wooden treadwheel used for the grid winch system.

Eisenzeit-Völkerwanderungszeit , 1938 - The wall chart consists of two big pictures in the centre showing typical scenes of the every-day life during the Iron Age. On both sides these sceneries are framed by smaller depictions of weapons, jewelry and tools. The first picture shows a blacksmith`s workshop from the pre-Roman Iron Age (800 BC). In front of the roofed workshop you can see the forge, in which the smith heats the iron. The second picture shows the interior of a smithery from the Migration Period (375/376-568 AC). The smith is sitting at the table of a log cabin, which is lined with clay, and is refining the metal with gold. You can further see casting moulds for knives.

A water ditch, a strong timber fence, a wide gate and a watchtower surround the building. The wooden houses with gable roofs are covered with straw and have very small windows. Some men carry in a bagged bear. The skulls of horses and cows on the big tree in the centre, at the fence and the gate are cultic items. You can further see a smith standing at a clay furnace.
